As a salon we are working to be as socially conscious as possible; from our toilet roll and compostable coffee cups to the new WeDo/ range.
In this vein we have joined the Green Salon Collective. You may notice on your next visit to the salon that there are a number of new recycling bins. As well as paper and plastic, we will now be recycling:
Did you know that your hair can be used for a lot of things, including mopping up oil spills in the ocean. Hair is a protein, and so it follows that it will breakdown when composted. It is also rich in nitrogen which is great food for plants.
Any excess chemicals used in the salon will no longer make it to landfill. Over time when bleach and other chemicals breakdown a toxic waste is formed. So instead of polluting our soil and groundwater, you colour will now be turned into electricity for the National Grid.
You will now notice that our prices have increased by £1 for each service and £2 for each colour service. Our ‘green fee’ as it were, to help us cover the additional costs.
As you can imagine this is a big but important decision for us as a team, and we hope you believe so to. We understand that for many of our clients being environmentally considerate is part of regular life and so will happily join our quest to become a greener salon.
When you are next in the salon ask the team about how the products used will be disposed of, or visit the Green Salon Collective website to find out more.
